Bodhidharma. He is far superior than moralists, puritans, so-called good people and zealots of good. He has touched the root of the problem. Until you develop awareness, all your morality is fake, and your whole culture is just a thin layer that anyone can destroy. But when your morality comes from your awareness, and not from some discipline, then it is a completely different story. Then you will respond to each situation based on your awareness, and whatever you do – it will be good.
Awareness cannot do anything wrong. This is the ultimate beauty of awareness. Everything that comes from awareness is simply beautiful, without any effort, without any practice. So, instead of chopping off leaves and tree branches, chop off the root. There is only one way to chop off the root –to be alert, to be aware, and to be conscious.
Morality has limited all juice and energy of life to the narrow dungeon of its mind. They cannot flow in it. That is why it has finally turned into a dried old prune. Its style is very proper, cruel and tough, and it is always ready to see any situation as white or black, like a brooch on her neck.
The Queen of Clouds is hiding in the minds of each of us –in everyone who has been raised on the harsh ideas about the bad and the good, sinful and virtuous, acceptable and unacceptable, moral and immoral. It is important to remember that all these judgments of the mind are just products of our dependence. It doesn’t matter whether our judgments are applied to ourselves or to others – they prevent us from experiencing inner beauty and divinity. Only when we break out of the cell of our dependence and reach the truth of our hearts, can we finally begin to see life as it really is.
